Sierra Rutile Board Recommends Takeover Offer From Leonoil

SRX and Leonoil have announced a Bid Implementation Agreement under which Leonoil will acquire all issued and outstanding ordinary shares in SRX it does not already own, with no minimum acceptance condition. Leonoil is offering A$0.18 per share, representing a 12.5% premium over Gemcorp’s A$0.16 per share offer announced on July 1, 2024. This also marks a 90% premium over the A$0.095 per share offer from PRM Services LLC announced on March 20, 2024. The Leonoil offer values SRX at A$76.4 million. “SRX Directors unanimously recommend each holder of SRX shares accept the Leonoil offer,” the company stated, “and have indicated that they will accept the offer in respect of all SRX shares they own or control, in both instances, in the absence of a superior proposal.” Gemcorp has not increased its initial offer price of A$0.16 per share since the announcement on July 1, 2024. Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, inaugurated the Steering Committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the recommendations from the Cross-Party on Electoral Systems and Management Bodies Review Report, commonly known as the ‘tripartite report’. The meeting took place on Friday, July 19, 2024 at State House in Freetown. The primary goal of the newly established Steering Committee is to ensure the comprehensive execution of the tripartite report’s recommendations. Four-Story Building Collapse in Freetown Amid Heavy Rainfall

Freetown, Sierra Leone – A four-story building in the SS Camp area on the hills above Freetown collapsed last night due to a heavy downpour. Community volunteers worked tirelessly through the night, using their bare hands to rescue trapped individuals. The rescue effort continues today with the aid of an excavator that arrived this morning. Inspector Lamish, a volunteer, reported that two people had been successfully rescued, and efforts were underway to pull out a third person. He estimated that at least seven individuals were still trapped beneath the debris. John Rogers, the deputy head of the disaster management agency, confirmed that their team, along with the army, police, and Red Cross, had reached the site and were actively participating in the rescue operations. No fatalities have been confirmed at this time.

Treason Trial: Judgement Day for Amadu Koita and Others

The treasón trial involving Amadu Koita Makalo and others will end today, Monday, 22nd July, 2024. According to a notice issued by the Judiciary of Sierra Leone, the proceedings will take place at Court No. 1 at the main Law Courts Building in Freetown at 10:00 a.m. The notice further noted that the presiding Judge will conclude his summing up to the Jury, who shall thereafter give their verdict. Journalists with accreditation are expected to be seated at 9:30am prompt. Amadu Koita Makalo, who is the main accused in tgid high-profile treason case has firmly denied all charges against him during his previous appearance before Hon. Justice Komba Kamanda at High Court No. 1 on Monday 1 July 2024. He made this known in a press release dated 21 July 2024.
